Land of penguins
The Isla Pingüino Marine Park is a protected area that preserves a great biodiversity in Southern Patagonia.
The presence of the Rockhopper Penguin stands out par excellence, being the northernmost colony of the species. We are privileged to be able to observe them daily for almost 6 months, witnessing their reproductive cycle, year after year.
These incredible birds fill our days with joy and give us unforgettable moments.
Did you know?
The gray cormorant is slightly smaller than other cormorants, measuring approximately 50 cm.
The formation of the colonies begins in August, laying between 1 and 3 eggs in October, which are incubated by the father and the mother for 25 days.
Then both parents feed the chicks for approximately 40 days.
We can see this species during the excursion "Isla de los Pájaros" through the Interior of the Ría.
Nothing fancy!
These are the last days of incubation of their eggs, this adult Magellanic penguin knows it very well. It is a very hot day in his penguin colony located in the Ría Deseado Provincial Reserve, Santa Cruz.
He cannot afford to go for a dip in the sea or seek the shade of the bushes. It makes use of all the adaptations that nature gave it.
When his partner from the sea arrives, he will be relieved of his duties. And you can rest. To then start over.
